Getting my MobiData Free SIM ready for use

Refer to the manufacturer's guide of your device for instructions on how to insert a SIM card.

 

Can I change my package?

Yes, you can choose to take a higher or lower level of data per month and this will take effect from the beginning of the next billing cycle. If you would like to do so please contact our help centre on

For Security purposes you will need to provide the following information:

  1. Full name
  2. Email Address
  3. Full Address and Postcode

 

Where can I use the MobiData service?

Currently you can use your MobiData SIM in 40 countries globally, though we are constantly expanding our network. Your bundle price includes usage whilst in the UK and when it is being used in the 39 countries outside of the UK there is a charge of just £0.15/MB. What type of device can the MobiData service be used with?

Your MobiData SIM can be used in any unlocked 3G/4G ready device: including laptops, tablets, iPads, iPods, Smartphones etc.

 

Will the SIM you buy for your SIM-only plan fit into your device?

There is little worse than buying something that doesn't fit, whether its jeans, bed linen or a SIM. This is why we strongly suggest that you check out the instructions or specifications of your device. Much like jeans or bed linen, you cannot easily cut your SIM to fit. If you do and it all goes wrong, there is little chance that your tablet or device supplier will fix it for you and it is most likely you will have invalidated your warranty. MobiData is a SIM only service, therefore, when abroad TURN ON YOUR DATA ROAMING on the device you have put it into. Otherwise our service will not work when you are travelling.

 

Can I use MobiData to make and receive phone calls and SMSs?

MobiData is a data only service, so it cannot support SMS or calls. However, there are a number of services available; such as Fring, Skype and Viber, that will enable you to do such things using MobiData. Please note that MobiData or iGEM Communications Ltd cannot be held responsible for the performance of third party products or services or their effects on our services so that this action is undertaken at your own risk. Inserting your SIM-only service card into your tablet/device

Insert the MobiData SIM card into your device by following the manufacturer's instructions.

  1. Power on your Device.
  2. Perform the following three steps:
  1.  Enable Mobile Data
  2.  Enable Data Roaming
  3.  Set the Access Point Name (APN) to: mbb.voiamo.net

Note: When travelling to Australia please let customer services know in advance so we can advise you device settings specific to Australia.

 

SIM-only - Settings for different device platforms

 

iOS

  1. Please type into the Safari browser, (on the device in which your MobiData SIM is inserted):
    mobi-data.com/ios.html
  2. Select the correct file and tap download & install
  3. Your settings will be automatically updated

 

Android

  1. Go to settings in your device, then More Settings
  2. Tap on Mobile Networks/Cellular Data
  3. Tap More > Access Point Names > Option > New APN > enter APN mbb.voiamo.com
  4.    (when in Australia enter CONNECT).
  5. Leave all other settings blank

 

Windows

  1. Slide the home screen from right to left or scroll to the bottom of the screen and press the arrow    button
  2. Scroll to Settings -> Scroll to Access Point -> Tap on ‘add’ button
  3. Set the Connection Name as Mobidata and the Access Point Name (APN) to mbb.voiamo.net and    leave all other settings blank
  4. Tap the ‘done’ button and tap OK when prompted
  5. Tap on MobiData to make sure it’s active.

 

What tablets/devices work with your SIM-only product?

Here is a list of popular tablets and devices and the corresponding SIM size we believe will work with that device. Again, it is very important that you check with your manufacturer as to which SIM size will be appropriate for you. Manufacturers can change their specification without warning or notice and therefore we cannot guarantee that the information below is current or accurate, and neither can we take any responsibility for the information provided below.
